We’re Prem and Paul, the team behind Tastefully. We’ve both been working in tech finance for the last decade or two, but have always held a deep passion for the wine industry.
Prem moved to the Bay Area from NYC in 2016 after taking a vacation to Napa with his family and falling in love with everything about it. He interned at a large winery in St. Helena for a crush season, learning first hand all about the process of turning great fruit into even better wine.
Paul helped co-found a meadery based in Berkeley back in 2012 with a buddy that had been making mead in his garage for decades. They set up a custom crush at one of the local “urban wineries” and started building a business. They ended up shutting the business down when the business partner moved to WA state, but it’s there that Paul was introduced to wine making, mead making, and all the beauty of the BevAlc industry.
We continued on with our corporate jobs after these pivotal experiences, and after working together for several years at a solar financing startup, we decided to quit our jobs and launch Tastefully! It turns out the people in the wine industry are much cooler to spend time with than those in the finance industry. Not a knock on bankers, it’s the truth. There’s artisanship and a deep pride in the craft of winemaking that is truly inspirational.
Our mission is to make the most delicious, artisanal products readily accessible to everyone. We want to help those artisans bring their goods to your table, wherever they are. We believe a tasting experience is the best way to be introduced to new flavors and learn about your own palate in the process. And let’s be honest, it’s the twenty first century now…tastings don’t have to be in person to be an amazing experience. We’re launching with wine and we’re excited to offer these delicious, hand-crafted virtual wine tasting experiences.
