After 5 days of cold soak, whole berries are fermented in both an open top fermenter and new barrels. It is aged in 100% French oak with 50% new for 16 months and bottled without any fining and filtration.
2020 was a very challenging vintage. From the bud break to veraison, the vines experienced the ideal growing condition under the benign mild weather. But serious fires started in the end of August and continued in September throughout many grape-growing areas in California. As a result, so many grapes were smoke tainted. However, there were several areas, where the vines were fortune enough to avoid the damages from the fire. These vines produced very high quality grapes that turned out to be incredibly elegant wines with intensity and balance.
This Pinot Noir showcases the pure aromas of raspberry, pomegranate, dark cherry, and lavender as well as the elegant bouquets of cedar, white pepper, and anise. The entry is smooth and a layer of intense red berries seamlessly intertwined with vibrant acidity. Fine, concentrated tannins highlight the minerality and complexity on the palate.
